NEW WESTMINSTER, BC – The Pattullo Bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions overnight on Sunday, October 6, to allow for inspection, seismic monitoring testing, and repairs. Following this, overnight directional closures will be in place for four consecutive nights to complete related work.

Date closure begins Time Direction closed
Sunday, Oct. 6 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Both directions
Monday, Oct. 7 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Southbound into Surrey
Tuesday, Oct. 8 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Northbound into New Westminster
Wednesday, Oct. 9 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Southbound into Surrey
Thursday, Oct. 10 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Northbound into New Westminster

During this work, annual inspection and railing repairs will be carried out by a snooper truck that takes up multiple lanes of traffic. The inspection is part of the ongoing maintenance program for the Pattullo Bridge. Additionally, these closures are necessary to test the Seismic Early Warning and Wind Monitoring System on the bridge, which is required annually.

Pattullo Bridge users are encouraged to take the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges as alternatives. N19 NightBus trips affected by closures will be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges between New Westminster and Scott Road stations. The bridge will remain open to pedestrians, cyclists, and first responders at all times.

Signage will indicate all traffic pattern changes and traffic control personnel will be on-site. Motorists and transit customers should plan for up to 30 minutes of additional travel time.

TransLink thanks bridge users and neighbours for their patience during this essential work. Customers are encouraged to check Transit Alerts and use Trip Planner for more information.
